126.Colon, diverticulitis with perforation, gross

The probe is in the track of a ruptured sigmoid diverticulum. Also seen in the mouths of several other diverticula below this is brown stool. Ruptured diverticula can produce an acute abdomen with peritonitis requiring surgical intervention.
