22.Lung, microabscess, Candida, microscopic

Seen here at high magnification is a microabscess in lung containing numerous budding cells and pseudohyphae characteristic for Candida. Candida can produce a pneumonia similar to a bacterial pneumonia and occurs more frequently in immunocompromised hosts.
