Explain of Forensic Pathology
8. Shaken baby syndrome, model, gross
Shaken baby syndrome describes a pattern of neurologic injuries caused by violent shaking of an infant. An infant's head is oversized in comparison to the body, and the neck musculature is not well-developed, so shaking will cause the head to flop back and forth, producing extensive intracranial (often subdural) and retinal hemorrhages and can be fatal.
