9. Shaken baby syndrome, retinal hemorrhages, gross

Shaken baby syndrome occurs most commonly when a young male left alone with the baby loses self-control because of the baby's crying and begins shaking the infant. Such injuries can be inflicted on small children as well. Seen here are the retinal hemorrhages at autopsy that document this condition and lead to a conviction against the perpetrator.
